Contract of Adhesion

Also known as: Adhesion

A contract prepared by one party (the insurer) on a take-it-or-leave-it basis without negotiation. Any ambiguities are interpreted in favor of the insured.

“Because the insured has no input in drafting the policy terms, ambiguous wording is strictly construed against the drafting insurer under the doctrine of contra proferentem.”
